Using teams and user types to manage access to tasks, assets, and Rupert Desk

In this article, we are going to cover the following topics:


Teams

Within the Rupert app, a user can belong to one or more teams in their organization. This allows organizations to:

  • Share assets from the same source between different teams

  • Set visibility for assets to specific teams or the entire organization

By default:


User Types

You can manage user access permissions to Rupert Desk by assigning them with a user type.

All users added to Rupert will be granted access to the Rupert Slack app (if installed).

Here is a summary of the different user types:

End User

Intended for business stakeholders, who do not need access to the Desk.

Viewer

Intended for users who need access to Rupert Desk, without editing permissions.

Editor

Intended for analysts and other data org members and includes all permissions of an End User, plus:

  • Can create and edit assets

  • Can verify assets and edit them
    Note: Editors can only edit a verified asset they're the owner of

  • Can add and edit End Users

Manager

Intended for analyst teams’ managers and includes all permissions of an Editors, plus:

  • Can add and edit all types of users

  • Can verify assets and edit them, regardless of their owner

  • Can change an asset's owner
