Sync and manage BI source in the "Assets" tab

Connect and manage BI source

Easily manage your connected sources / connect a new source via the "Manage Sources" tab. You can get there by using the left sidebar or the quick action button in the Dashboard.

Sync your BI assets to their source

Rupert makes sure your BI assets always stay true to their source (BI tool). When changes to an asset are made in the source (say you change the name of the View in Tableau or a Look in Looker), these will be reflected in the asset inside the Rupert Desk. The “Last Indexed” timestamp, located on the right side of the asset name, shows the last time Rupert synced with the asset’s source.

A sync to the source can be performed in 2 ways

(1) Periodical automatic source sync by Rupert - performed on an hourly basis

(2) Manual sync by user - specific asset / all assets:

Specific asset sync

Can be performed manually by a Desk user, by hovering over the asset in the "Assets" tab, and clicking the refresh icon located in the right pane

All assets sync

Can be performed manually by clicking the refresh button located next to the source in the filter pane

Note: While the action was done, there is no confirmation on the screen that the sync was completed after you click on the source.

❗ Important: If you add a new asset in your BI tool (e.g. you’ve created a new report), we recommend you manually refresh the source connection as explained here and not wait for the hourly automatic sync.
